Rubies of Eventide Quests - Steps Into Darkness aka Sashite Quest

WARNING - SPOILER PAGE!!!

You get the sashite quest from Briwynn in the sashite room in ruins2. It is believed that you need a combined 200 intelligence and lore to get the quest. You must also have the proper faction with the sashites. A character that was able to get the quest was "disliked" by both the Temple of Sashos and the Dark Knights of Sashos. Telling Briwynn "Make me leave" harms your Temple of Sashos and Dark Knights of Sashos reputation but it is still listed as "disliked". She will no longer offer the quest at that time. Rumor is that you have to be a member of one of the death schools. Another rumor is that you can not be a dwarf. I have done the quest many times with a level 1 leashy necromancer created with all points into int and lore.

You will need buffs to get a level 1 character to qualify for the quest. A level one leshy with all creation points put into int and lore has 95 base int and 33 base lore. A pair of bracelets of insight plus the top summoning line int buff cast at step two takes you to 187 int and 63 lore. A pair of bracelets of dark insight would allow lesser buffs. This qualifies the character for the quest. This section may be refined over time as the threshold is determined.

Talking to Briwynn you should select "I am not here to fight with you" followed by "You are Sashites". If you do not get the second prompt you do not qualify for the quest. You then select "What do you want me to do for you" then "I will retrieve the idol for you". Being rude to her or trying to get tough with her will harm your faction with the sashites and she will ignore you until you fix it. Briwynn sends you to Thea at the monistary to continue the quest

Visiting Thea at the monistary is optional. I probably should go visit Thea and see what her story is. Optionally you can go directly to Andrev the bartender at the Birchwood Inn.

Andrev the bartender at the Birchwood Inn tells you a story about a visitor who lost the charm gambling. You should listen to his story and ask all the obvious questions. Eventually you will find that he will negotiate an exhange for a Vibrant Charm. He sends you to V'rekti Sarn in Halerna to get one. He also gives you a hint that the clerics in KB might like the idol.

Visiting V'rekti Sarn is optional. You may skip this step and go straight to Estzi in Kendall Falls. Talking to V'rekti Sarn in Halerna presents you with several choices after you tell him you are seeking to acqure a vibrant charm. Asking what you can do to trade is the hard way. He offers to trade it to you for 25 shattered spirits. These drop off the banshes in bane 1/2. A full pop of them in both level 1 and level 2 of bane is only 20 and they pop very slow. It takes about two hours to get 25 shattered spirits. Return them to V'rekti and he will give you the necklace. The easier way is to tell him it is for the sashites. He will get all pissed off and break his necklace and tell you to go get another somewhere. He doesn't tell you where. You then have to somehow magically know that the Eszti the golem maker in kendall falls can provide one.

Estzi the Golem Maker in Kendall Falls will make you a vibrant charm for 99 bars of iron or 1 prox. You can buy the stack of iron in the gravel pit west of KB for a lot less than 1 prox. Talk to her then hand her the stack of iron and she will give you a charm.

The Vibrant Charm is a very nice item. One senereo is to take the and stop here. You can keep the charm and end the quest or you can take the it to the bartender at the birchwood inn. He will give you the idol for the necklace.

Now you have another choice. You can give the idol to Harman, the healer in KB. He will reward you with 10,000 xp and give you an Erosian Cloak. Or, you can take the idol back to Briwynn in ruins2. She will reward you with the same experience and give you Cloak of the Dark Lord and a soulbound sashite fang. The soulbound sashite fang is a bit better than the regular ones that drop off the sashite mobs with Thrust +150, Unholy +100, Drain +50. Both cloaks are best in the game for casters and mele respectively.
