Rubies of Eventide - Crafting MaterialsCrafting in Rubies of Eventide is the combining of crafting materials at a crafting station with the proper tool. The four types of crafting materials are Cloth, Leather, Metal and Wood. These materials are combined in different ways to create various ammunition, armor and weapons. The grade or "tier" of material you select from each type affects the strength of the crafted item. Each material contributes its own factor to the item and crafts do not require all materials in the craft to be of the same grade. The first three grades of material can be purchases at merchants throughout Vormis and some can be gathered. Materials can be purchases on Founders Island at discounted prices. Merchants for all materials exist in the town of Cartilas as well as Founders Island. Some metal can be purchases in the gravel pit west of Kaj Blood. Higher grades of material must be gathered. Lore of Eventide has scoured the regions of Vormis to find the various sources of material and present the results here. The cost listed is the base cost of the material. The price vendors charge you will depend on their markup and your reputation. It always pays to shop around to find the best price when making bulk purchases or when selling gathered goods. ClothCloth is the basic ingredient in light armor and is used primarily by the tailors. The first three grades of cloth are rarely found on mobs and should be purchased. Players skilling their tailoring skill will often make soft leather instead of cloth armor to use the common leather skins. The cost of cloth goes up ten fold every grade. This makes Starweave the most expensive crafting ingredient in the game.
Dreamcloth can be found on various undead in Ruins and bane. Spidersilk can be found on manta's in silver lake and on Goliath Nomeaters in KF. Starweave can be found as a rare drop on Goliath Nomeaters in Kendal Falls. Ghost Scythe is an alternate 5th level cloth from a GM spawned mob. LeatherLow-grade leather can be purchased in stores. Many animal skins can be used for leather. The level of the animal does not seem to have any affect on the grade of the pelt. I.E. Bear cubs from just north of academy drop grade two leather just the same as irate bears. The cost of leather goes up by 6 fold every tier. There are exceptions to this rule with some of the dropped skins so players are encouraged to shop around.
Boar cubs south of academy drop hides that can be used as a grade 1 leather about 1 in 2 times. Red slitherings drop their skin all the time making them the preferred supply of grade one leather for those who choose not to purchase it from the store. Bear skins come in four different types. All have the same name. All seem to be grade 2. They do not stack and cannot be interchanged in recipes but all seem to make the same armor. Snakes drop Snake skin which is a grade 2 material. Lizards and Rock Lizards drop Lizard skin all the time. The skins identify as Snake skin but armor says they were crafted with lizard skin when you make it. Lizard skin is grade 2 and each skin weighs 1. Skins from lizards and rock lizards stack with each other but not with snake skins. Lizards have around 80hp. Rock lizards have around 200. Wolves in Kharentian Bluff down near Monistary drop tier 3 skins The regular wolves have around 120 HP and drop a Wolf Pelt about 1 out of 10 kills. Each wolf pelt weighs 20. The large wolves have around 150 HP and drop a Large Wolf Pelt about 1 in 5 kills. Each large wolf pelt weighs 40. The two pelts do NOT stack. Tigers in falls north of KB drop pelts most of the time. Tiger cubs in Kharentian Bluff do NOT drop pelts. Flesh golem strips are the most productive source of tier 4 leather. Each flesh golem in tomb drop a stack of them varying from 1 to about 40 strips. Scythe can be found on scythes in the scythe nest in Kendall Falls. These big bugs have a couple hour respawn time and drop between 10 and 60 hides per kill. Shadowlist Husks can be found on shadowlisks in silver lake MetalMetal can be purchased in stored, found on mobs or mined Bronze, iron, steel, praxite and khalite are regularly mined. Inferium ore in form of strange coins can be found on Ents in Wold Praxite is far more available as of the 5-November-2003 patch. It can be mined in the gravel pits just outside KB Khalite can be mined. Norium can be mined. Norium has been spotted on a wandering dwarf who occasionally makes his way into KB The cost of metal increases 4x per grade. Tier 1 metal is the most expensive base crafting material but the low multiplier soon has it loose its top position to other materials.
* Huan said "Inferium is an "iron" with the property of Fire". Unfortunately, you cannot craft with it yet. Huan said "Praxite, for example, is a forth level metal but is known to behave like an 8th level material in regards to some enchantments." WoodWood can be purchased in stores or found on mobs.
Lizardmen in Wold will drop ironwood very rarely, Ents in Wold drop Yewh and some ironwood each kill. Greater ents in silverlake drop Ironwood, Heartwood and very rarely, Aelfwood. There was a post on the forums on 12-dec-2003 which said : I have seen 5th and 6th level wood in game as of last nite.
Heartwood is the level 5 stuff and aelfwood is level 6. I only got
11 pieces of heartwood so currently have a Heartwood/Scyth Short
bow! Very nice bow! The woods came from an elven girl who claims her uncle gave it to her and not to tell where he found it. She needed a bow made from it, but she had no scyth hides. Well, thanks to Grimly for repaying me for dragging his corpse from the scyth pit with scyth hides She traded even heartwood for scyth hides, I only wish I could have gotten a little more wood to make a reflex bow. She found a master fletcher to make her bow and gave him a 3rd step forge buff (forget the name) which put him at almost 600 fletching. He was paid in Aelfwood for his troubles, which he made a quarterstaff from. It was +475 bash...very nice So have hope guys! This stuff is out there somewhere, it's just incredibly rare |
